ABOUT LUBA
I have always had a keen interest in politics, and the world in general. I am an active member of the Australian Labor Party and have been for many years as I believe that the Labor Party works hard for working families.
I completed year 12 at Mt St Josephs Girls College in 2002 then continued
my studies completing a double degree at Victoria University in 2006;
A Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Business.
2011 brings a new challenge for me as I have been accepted as a participant
in the Williamson Community Leadership Program, something which I
am truly pleased about as this program is one of Australia’s
finest leadership development programs. I look forward to completing
this challenging leadership program and putting into practice the
valuable insights and extra knowledge s I will gain as I progress
through the program.
I am employed on a full time basis as the Industrial, Campaigns and Women’s Officer at the Rail, Tram and Bus Union. I find this role both exciting and challenging. I truly enjoy working in the union as the fight for workers rights with the best outcome for all is something I am passionate about.
The remainder of my week I spend working with local residents and groups in and around Hobsons Bay and attending council briefings and meetings.
I have always been interested in our community and I believe that Hobsons Bay is a lovely place to live. Being born and raised in Hobsons Bay I attended local schools and know what is on offer. We have a diverse range of educational centre’s here however, I am always keen to see Hobsons Bay gain more facilities and extend the reach so it gets even better as time progresses.
Since a young age politics has held my interest and I have been inspired
by and look up too local women such as Joan Kirner, Julia Gillard
and Lynne Kosky with their involvement in politics and what they have
been able to achieve.
I am a leader and have always been active in the community, my school
and my chosen sport.
Being keen to make a difference in our community, I saw council as the natural progression for me to take that to the next level. I want to serve the community, whilst continuing to make that difference!
